Poll Duty Exemptions Revealed
In a significant update presented before the Calcutta High Court on Thursday, the Election Commission of India (EC) disclosed that a group of 26 employees
from the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) have been officially exempted from participating in election duties. The commission detailed that appointment notices for initial training sessions were generated for these 26 individuals. However, a striking statistic emerged: only two out of the entire group of 26 actually attended the designated training. This low turnout underscores the extent of the exemptions granted, with the EC confirming to the court that all 26 personnel are now excused from their poll responsibilities. This administrative decision unfolds within the broader context of the contentious 2016 school jobs recruitment case, which continues to cast a significant shadow over various aspects of the ongoing recruitment processes.
