Amtrak has announced that its NextGen Acela high-speed trains will begin service on August 28, 2025, along the Northeast Corridor, connecting Washington, New York, and Boston. This launch comes after years of delays, with the new trains promising a 27% increase in seating capacity and enhanced passenger amenities, including individual power outlets, reading lights, and high-speed 5G-enabled Wi-Fi. The trains will reach speeds of up to 160 miles per hour, offering a smoother and quieter ride due to a new tilt system.
