The Digital Transformation Agency (DTA) is piloting the use of artificial intelligence (AI) to assist in reviewing applications for its Digital Marketplace 2 panel. This initiative involves a proof-of-concept that pairs AI with human assessment officers to evaluate IT supplier applications. The Digital Marketplace 2, launched in October 2024, is a government-wide procurement arrangement for IT labor hire and consulting services. The agency aims to expand this proof-of-concept into a full pilot later this year, utilizing an AI-human pairing model. The AI model has been tested on 268 previous applications, showing an 84% agreement rate with human assessors, slightly higher than the 81% agreement rate between two human assessors. The DTA plans to use a larger dataset of 6,448 applications to further validate these results.
