The survey, administered via the Qualtrics platform, collected responses from 10,000 participants between August and October 2022. It included 77 questions for homeowners and 87 for renters, focusing on energy efficiency, general renovations, and appliance purchases. The survey aimed to capture a representative sample of U.S. demographics and was available in both English and Spanish. Participants were required to be at least 18 years old, reside in single-family or small multifamily dwellings, and be household decision-makers. The survey data underwent rigorous review processes to ensure high quality and reliability, with oversight from PNNL's Institutional Review Board.
