The model aims to predict ICU admissions directly from the emergency department using data available at the time of triage. The study involved 163,452 patient visits, with data split into training and test sets to ensure balanced outcome distribution. The AI model uses machine learning techniques, including logistic regression, random forest, and XGBoost, to enhance prediction accuracy. The model's performance was evaluated using metrics such as AUROC and AUPRC, demonstrating its potential to improve early decision-making in emergency settings.
