Scottish aerospace company Skyrora has received a launch licence from the UK Civil Aviation Authority, allowing it to conduct launch operations from the SaxaVord spaceport in the Shetland Islands. This marks a significant milestone as Skyrora becomes the first UK-based launch vehicle company to achieve this status. The SaxaVord spaceport, which was granted a vertical-launch permit in 2023, can host up to 30 launches annually, with Skyrora permitted to carry out 16. Skyrora is developing the single-stage Skylark L vehicle and the larger three-stage Skylark XL.
