Niantic has announced a significant update to Pokémon Go, raising the trainer level cap from 50 to 80 starting October 15, 2025. This change aims to rebalance the leveling curve, allowing players to progress more frequently due to reduced XP requirements for each level. To assist players in leveling up before the cap increase, an XP Celebration event will run from August 25 to October 14, offering extra XP rewards. The event includes bonuses such as double Catch XP and additional XP for winning raids and Max Battles. New Level-Up Research tasks will be introduced for levels 71 to 80, while tasks for levels 41 to 50 will be removed.
