What's Happening?
The University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo has been awarded over $1.4 million to participate in a $152 million national project aimed at developing advanced artificial intelligence tools for scientific research. Led by the Allen Institute for Artificial Intelligence (Ai2) with support from the National Science Foundation (NSF) and NVIDIA, the project seeks to create open AI models to accelerate U.S. scientific progress. UH Hilo faculty and students will adapt these models for research and community involvement, enhancing the university's data science education and technological capabilities.
