Brandon Woodruff went six two-hit innings and the offense provided ample run support as Milwaukee took the series opener in Seattle, 6-0.

Through five innings, this game was a good old fashioned pitchers’ duel. Mariners starter George Kirby carried a no-hitter into the sixth inning, while Woodruff didn’t allow his second hit until the fifth and looked perhaps the best he has all season:

than Joey Ortiz, who laced a line drive into left field with one out in the top of the sixth. Brice Turang immediately doubled to put runners on second and third.

That brought up William Contreras, who hit a high pop fly into right field that was just deep enough to score Ortiz for the first run of the game. Milwaukee wasn’t done there, though. Christian Yelich hit a ground ball that snuck by a diving Cole Young for a base hit, bringing in Turang. Jackson Chourio then cranked a double over the head of Julio Rodriguez and off the centerfield wall, scoring Yelich.

Isaac Collins, who’s been nothing but clutch this season, kept the rally going with a single — scoring Chourio and bringing the score to 4-0, Brewers. Andrew Vaughn grounded out to end the inning, but the damage was done. Milwaukee had earned a lead they wouldn’t relinquish.

Woodruff made quick work of the top of the Mariners’ order — J.P. Crawford, Julio Rodriguez, and Cal Raleigh — in the bottom of the sixth. Woodruff was incredibly efficient today — finishing his night having thrown only 62 pitches through six innings.

In the top of the seventh, Anthony Seigler singled with one out off of Seattle’s new pitcher, Trent Thornton, but Joey Ortiz grounded into a double play. In the bottom of the seventh, Aaron Ashby also allowed a one-out single to Jorge Polanco. The next batter, Donovan Solano, also grounded into a double play.

Milwaukee would get a couple insurance runs in the top of the eighth. Brice Turang led off with a single, but was thrown out stealing by Raleigh. William Contreras doubled, and Christian Yelich knocked him in with a single. Yelich advanced to second on a throwing error by Mariners reliever Brandyn Garcia, and Chourio knocked him in just two pitches later. Isaac Collins walked to put runners on first and second for Andrew Vaughn, who grounded into a double play.

Seattle managed to put runners on first and third against Aaron Ashby in the bottom of the eighth, but the most notable part of the inning was this Jeter-esque play from Joey Ortiz to save a run. He’s been putting on an absolute clinic at shortstop recently:

Grant Anderson allowed a couple baserunners in the ninth, but managed to get out of the inning unscathed by striking out Dylan Moore to end it. Eleven straight for Milwaukee after today’s 6-0 victory. George Webb is shaking in his boots. If the Brewers can win a twelfth-straight game tomorrow, it will be just the third time since 1987. This is starting to feel like something really special.

Milwaukee will look to keep it rolling tomorrow as they search for their twelfth straight win. Jacob Misiorowski will take the mound for the Crew, facing off against Mariners righty Logan Gilbert. The game will be broadcast live on FanDuel Sports Wisconsin and the Brewers Radio Network.
