TNA Impact recap: Battle lines are drawn in fallout to Slammiversary

WHAT'S THE STORY?

Slammiversary ended on a sour note with Trick Williams retaining the TNA World Championship and Jacy Jayne winning the Knockouts Championship. Both of TNA’s top singles titles are held by outsiders. Heading into Impact (July 24, 2025), locker room morale was down (in storyline). Leaders stepped up during the live broadcast to bring a renewed vigor, and battle lines were drawn.

The show opened with a 15 minute promo session. Santino Marella spoke about this job to put the TNA wrestlers in the right

positions to reclaim their gold. Masha Slamovich entered the ring to request a rematch. Santino booked the Knockouts title bout for next week.

The System arrived next to put over their love of TNA. There was a little moment where Alisha Edwards pounded fists with Slamovich as a sign of support for the greater good. The System didn’t just fight Darkstate for themselves. They were also defending TNA. TNA is more than a brand, it is their home. Moose turned his attention to the world title. He knows what he must do. Whoop that Trick.

Enter Trick Willy with First Class. Williams mocked Moose for losing the X-Division Championship then having the gall to go after the world champ. TNA is Trick’s house. Williams also took a verbal jab at Mustafa Ali. That brought out Order 4, and Ali warned Trick not to say his name again. Or else Ali will bury Trick’s ass like his name is The Undertaker.

Order 4 had a different focus than the world title. They took exception with the System calling themselves the greatest faction in TNA. Fisticuffs broke out in the ring between factions, and Trick laughed at the dysfunction of his rivals.

Backstage, Eric Young viewed himself as the man that needs to cleanse TNA from outsiders.

In another promo session, Leon Slater, the Hardys, and Steve Maclin stood proudly as TNA champions. They shed blood, sweat, and tears for the company. Maclin declared that it is up to them to hold the line. Matt Hardy warned not to start a war with TNA, because that is a war they refuse to lose.

Jacy Jayne shared her two cents on the state of the Knockouts locker room. The talent are a mess with Tessa Blanchard getting suspended every other month, crazy people like Rosemary, Indi Hartwell calling herself The Knockout without accomplishing anything, and so on. Jayne comes from the deepest women’s division in all of wrestling, so it should be no surprise that she beat Slamovich for the title. When Jayne is done, fans will look at the Knockouts Championship and think of her instead of Hall of Famers like Gail Kim, Awesome Kong, and Mickie James.

Prior to the main event between Joe Hendry and Mike Santana, Frankie Kazarian tried to sit on commentary. He was promptly thrown out by the referee. Even Matthew Rehwoldt had enough of Kaz screwing Hendry’s chances to win the TNA world title, and that man loves Kaz’s scent. Rehwoldt put the company first over Kaz.

Hendry and Santana had a competitive match, and it was Santana who pulled out the win. The finish came down to counter wrestling. On an exchange of roll-ups, Santana scored the jackknife pin to win. Hendry showed respect to Santana in what looked like a passing of the torch to go after Trick Willy for the TNA World Championship.

This episode was a good reset to put the TNA locker room on the same page. Battle lines have been drawn against outsiders, and the troops are ready to do what it takes for the sake of the company. It provides a more cohesive vision that it is time to be serious about the current state of affairs with NXT superstars holding the top singles titles.

Let’s blitz through the rest of the results.

IInspiration & Mara Sadé defeated Elegance Brand. Sadé (aka Jakara Jackson) was the mystery partner for Jessie McKay and Cassie Lee. Sadé hot the hot tag moment for a tornado DDT. Heather and M pulled out a nifty teamwork maneuver when Heather hit an avalanche rana on her partner to send M into a senton on the opponent.

In the end, the IInspiration cleared the ring for the Idolizer on Heather to win.

No DQ: Jake Something defeated Mance Warner. Physical brawl with chains, trashcan lids, and a sledgehammer. Jake surged for a back suplex onto tacks, then he closed with the Black Hole Slam for victory.

Great Hands defeated Matt Cardona & Brian Myers. Cardona was on a roll, then Mustafa Ali caused a distraction. Tasha Steelz and Alisha Edwards began fighting. Meanwhile, one of Ali’s secret service guards chokeslammed Cardona. John Skyler took the pin. Commentary’s focus on the finish was selling Ali’s big man.

Closing with a goofy scene. During the show, Victoria Crawford declared herself as mentor to Indi Hartwell and Dani Luna, even though, they wanted nothing to do with her. After the show, Crawford got a match booked from Santino. It will be Hartwell & Luna against Jody Threat & Arianna Grace next week. Nobody wanted that match. Well, maybe Grace just to get screen time and being oblivious to the dynamics between the others.
