Latest Duke Chronicle Profile - Cameron Boozer

WHAT'S THE STORY?

The prize of Duke’s recruiting class, at least pre-season, is Cameron Boozer.

Why do we say pre-season? Because things don’t always work out as expected. In 1997, Chris Burgess was more highly rated than Elton Brand and we know how that worked out.

That said, Boozer is almost certainly closer to a Brand than a Burgess. At 6-9 and 250, his game has been described as “NBA ready,” which is high praise.

In the Duke Chronicle’s player profile, Dom Feneglio points to his strength, versatility and range.

also points out that Boozer is build a lot like his dad, Carlos, who was a rough customer during his time at Duke, though he didn’t have a three point game to speak of.

Feneglio correctly points out that Boozer will inevitably be compared to Cooper Flagg, who had a terrific if not historic season last year, but that the smarter comparison might be to Paolo Banchero. We’ll have a much better idea by December, but from here, that seems like a smart comment.
