Round 1
Jason Herzog the third man in the cage for the main event.
No immediate point down. Disappointing.
Hollowy circling and throwing punches from range, daring Poirier to come forward. Inside leg kick by Poirier. Holloway with a pair of body kicks. Right hand on the button by Holloway puts Poirier on his backside.
Poirier trying to rise, but he eats another left hand. He’s back to his feet, not out of danger. Poirier with a quick combo to back Holloway off. Holloway with a fancy spin kick to the body. Straight left from Poirier. Holloway gets another right through Poirier’s defenses. He’s really letting that right hand go, doesn’t seem concerned about a Poirier counter.
Holloway punches the body. He lands a kick to the body. Body shot by Holloway and Poirier has to back up to avoid a combo. Poirier kicks the body. Straight left for Poirier. He dropped the round, but we’re just getting started.

Round 2
Poirier cuts the cage off, but Holloway circles out immediately. Left hand from Poirier catches Holloway. Holloway advances with a three-punch combo. Poirier pops him with another left. Poirier lands a right then a knee up the middle. Strong start to this round for “The Diamond.”
Holloway smacks Poirier with a right as Poirier advances. Holloway punches the body. Big combo by Holloway and that last punch hurt Poirier bad. Holloway follows up with more big shots against the fence. Poirier with a takedown attempt, but Holloway stuffs it and ends up in mount, throwing punches. Back to half guard, Holloway keeping an elbow planted on Poirier’s face.
Holloway postures up, Poirier attacks with an upkick, Holloway lets Poirier stand with a minute remaining. Nice combo from Poirier and the crowd roars. Holloway with a 1-2. Poirier lands a left hand, then a sharp jab. Poirier rips the body. Right hand from Poirier and Holloway is hurt! Poirier jumps the gilly! Ha ha ha ha! He doesn’t get it, but what a moment. Poirier with hard elbows to close the round.
That one could go either way.

Round 3
Poirier not wasting time, coming forward with punches once more. Left hand counter from Holloway. Poirier throwing straight punches, a left lands as Holloway ducks in. Holloway kicks the body. Poirier throws a combo, but Holloway slips out of danger.
Great jab by Poirier. Holloway scores with a spin kick to the body. He hits another body kick. Holloway sneaks around Poirier’s guard with a right hand. Poirier jab right on the chin. Holloway hits him with a good right. Poirier sticking with the jab. Holloway catches him with a three-punch combo, Poirier’s chin being put to the test tonight.
Holloway spin kicks the body. Another Holloway combination scores. He’s warned about getting his fingers down. Left hand from Poirier followed by a couple of jabs.

Round 4
Poirier lands the left to kick off the championship rounds. Holloway using that jab to confuse Poirier, not letting him get a feel for whether a head shot or body shot is coming next. Poirer hunting with his jab, but Holloway doing a great job of avoiding it and countering
Left hook by Holloway. Poirier answers with a combination. Holloway sticks him with a jab. He scores with a combo of his own. Poirier jabs, Holloway punches his body. Poirier lands a short jab. Holloway punches the body, then fires one up top. Poirier’s jab has been scoring consistently this round. He hits Holloway with a hard left.
Defense starting to crack for both men as they trade punches. Holloway goes body-head. Holloway goes inside and cracks Poirier, but Poirier is right there as he hits Holloway with a left on the chin. Counter spin kick by Holloway nearly catches Poirier on the throat.
Five minutes left for “The Diamond.”

Round 5
Boom, quick 1-2 by Holloway. He’s working through his jab now. Holloway tags him with a left hook. Poirier needs to answer as he’s falling behind after a minute.
Poirier tries throwing big, but Holloway’s defense holds up. He peppers Poirier’s body. Poirier hits a clean right that backs Holloway up. Poirier jabs, Holloway attacks the body. Poirier jabbing, loading up his left hand. Holloway slips in a right. Head-body combo by Holloway. Poirier lands a left.
Two minutes remaining.
Poirier complains of an eye poke and he needs a moment to recover. It doesn’t take long. Poirier jabs, Holloway counters. Poirier lands a lunging left, then another. Nice body kick by Holloway and that opens up a pair of straight rights that stand Poirier up.
Sixty seconds.
Holloway with a beautiful two-punch combo. Left hand by Holloway as he circles. There’s the point down. Holloway just slugging as Poirier shells up and then goes to clinch. Booooo! (kidding kidding kidding)
