Hansi Flick was full of praise for midfielder Gavi after he scored in Thursday’s emphatic friendly win over Barcelona.

Gavi also wore the armband for the match and drew plenty of praise from his manager after the victory in South Korea.

“He can play at number 6 or number 8. We saw him at the end of last season, and he was at a very good level,” he told reporter.

“Here, exactly what I’ve seen from Gavi is what I want to see: pushing the team forward, wearing the armband. It’s good to see him like this.”

Flick also spoke about the match in general after seeing his team pick up another pre-season win on their Asia tour.

“Each player had 45 minutes. It was more important to look after Eric and Iñigo, who were both struggling,” he added.

“In the end, I’m happy. We had a good start in the first half and then sluggishly, but we returned to a great level, and in the second half too, with Gavi, Ferran, Marcus... also Gerard Martín in a position that isn’t his usual one.”

Barcelona now go on to face Daegu on Monday and will hope to make it three wins from three on the tour.
