Real Madrid officials and NBA Commissioner Adam Silver met this Thursday in Paris to discuss the NBA’s project to launch a competition in Europe, according to a report published on The Athletic. Real Madrid’s contact with the Euroleague expires in the summer of 2026 and the NBA see the club as a key piece which would encourage other big European teams to join the project, per that same report.
Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has always been intrigued by the possibility of Real Madrid’s basketball
team actually playing in the NBA, and while that would not really be the case in this instance, it’s clear that the club might be interested in what the Association has to offer.

However, the Euroleague is a historic competition, one which helped Real Madrid build the status they now have in European basketball. Will Los Blancos be willing to abandon the Euroleague to join this project in the summer of 2026?
