Newcastle United could turn to Real Madrid striker Endrick if their pursuit of Frankfurth’s Hugo Ekitike collapses, according to TeamTALK.
The 18-year-old Brazilian is reportedly being considered as a contingency option should negotiations with Eintracht Frankfurt over Ekitike fail to materialize.
Newcastle are in talks to sign Ekitike for a reported €75-80 million (£68m) free, but have been actively exploring alternatives in case the deal falls through.
ESPN reported earlier this week that Ekitike’s
agent is already in Newcastle to finalise personal terms and a medical, but the transfer has not yet been completed.
According to a new report, Real Madrid may be open to letting Endrick depart despite paying £61 million for him in 2022, and Newcastle is lurking in case he becomes available.
Endrick made 37 appearances last season, scoring seven goals and notching one assist, though only four of those outings were starts for him.
The Brazilian wunderkind, who scored his first senior international goal against England at Wembley in March 2024, remains one of the highest-rated young forwards in world football.
The idea of Newcastle entering the conversation for Endrick remains purely speculative, mind you. Still, with only Will Osula behind Alexander Isak following Callum Wilson’s departure, Eddie Howe is prioritising a second striker, so it’s reasonable for the club to explore all possible options to strengthen the forward corps.
