Injuries are never a good thing and Luka Dončić suffering a knee contusion while playing for Slovenia certainly had Lakers fans worried that he had gotten hurt.
Luckily, the injury doesn’t appear to be too serious and Luka participated in practice with the Slovenian national team on Monday.
The team also confirmed that Luka would be available to play in Slovenia’s upcoming exhibition game against Great Britain on Tuesday.
This is great news for Luka, Slovenia and the Lakers.
Everyone wants Luka to be healthy and ready to take advantage of his new physical physique, and it’s hard to do that if you are hurt.
From the Lakers’ perspective, fans can rest assured this injury is unlikely to factor in with the NBA season as long as he doesn’t have any unexpected setbacks.
The fact that he has already practiced and won’t even miss one game before returning means early indications that it wasn’t a major injury were correct. Luka can continue his international play and get ready for EuroBasket action happening later this month.
Considering this game is just preparation for EuroBasket and Luka is coming off a minor injury, don’t expect him to play heavy minutes against Great Britain.
If he can play for a couple of shifts in the first half and demonstrate he’s fine, that’ll probably be all that he does in this contest.
This is the penultimate exhibition game for Slovenia. The only other matchup they have after this one, before EuroBasket starts, is a game against Serbia on Thursday.
If you want to watch this friendly between Slovenia and Great Britain, you can view it on Courtside 1891. The action will begin at 11 a.m. PT.
This streaming service requires a yearly subscription or the purchase of an individual game. For the basketball sickos, the annual plan is likely the best option since Courtside 1891 will have all the EuroBasket games.
If Luka and Slovenia have their way, they will have a lot of games this summer as they aim to prove they can be a force in Europe.
