As expected (or maybe feared for Bayer Leverkusen fans), Granit Xhaka is headed to Sunderland.

After agreeing on personal terms with the English club earlier this month, Xhaka is headed back to the Premier League per Fabrizio Romano:

⚪️ EXCLUSIVE: Granit Xhaka to Sunderland, here we go! Deal agreed between all parties involved.

Understand fee will be €20m, contract until 2027.

Green light from Bayer Leverkusen for the player to fly today and complete his move to #SAFC, one more ambitious signing.

Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg added context to the report:

Granit #Xhaka to Sunderland is now considered a done deal, as expected.

An agreement between Leverkusen and Sunderland has been reached for a fee of €20 million including bonuses, after @FabrizioRomano and confirmed.

A verbal agreement until 2028 + 1 was already in place, as previously reported. If Xhaka doesn’t change his mind now, the deal will go through.
