The excitement of the 2025 MLB trade deadline has come and gone, and now it is time for the Detroit Tigers to return to action with their newest reinforcements on the roster.
After a brutal stretch that bookended this summer’s All-Star break, AJ Hinch and Co. have since taken four straight games, including a series sweep of the Arizona Diamondbacks at home this week. This weekend, they hit the road for a short yet challenging matchup with the Philadelphia Phillies.
The Phils have evenly split their
last 10 games, having lost their previous road series at the Chicago White Sox, two games to one; however, they won a three-gamer against the New York Yankees in the Bronx just before that. They are currently three games back in the chase for the best record in baseball and hold a plus-67 run differential.
Ahead of them are the Tigers, who are in a three-way tie just one game back behind the MLB-leading Milwaukee Brewers and hold a 9.5-game lead over the Kansas City Royals in the American League Central. Their plus-81 run differential is the fourth best in all of the majors.
On Friday, Jack Flaherty will take the mound for the visitors while Ranger Suárez takes the bump for the home squad. Here is how they match up.
