With 43 days until Penn State football, what better time to revisit another Saquon Barkley stat?
Saquon’s 43 career rushing touchdowns during his three seasons in Happy Valley comfortably gives him the program record, edging out Lydell Mitchell’s 38. Barkley scored just seven times on the ground during his freshman season before exploding for a conference-high 18 rushing TDs in both 2016 and 2017. Mitchell, however, still holds the single-season record with 26 ground scores in 1971.
Nicholas Singleton
has a real shot at breaking this program record in 2025 as he currently sits at 32 with his entire senior season ahead of him. Singleton has scored 12 rushing touchdowns in two of his last three seasons. Should this record be broken, it would have, obviously, been with the aid of an extra season.
What’s Saquon’s most impressive rushing score? Probably his 60-yard scamper on the Eagles’ first offensive play in the NFC Championship game. Oh, at Penn State? Sorry. The 79-yard Rose Bowl run may be one of the best runs in college football history.
