Bayern Munich could be helping fund Liverpool’s big summer transfer window

Bayern Munich has been hot on the heels of Luiz Diaz from Liverpool as their marquee signing, hoping to bolster an attack that has just lost Leroy Sané and Thomas Müller at the expiry of their contracts. However, in buying Diaz, the Bavarians might just be helping the Reds accomplish an even bigger move.

Reports from Mercato’s Santi Aouna (@Santi_J_FM) and Sky Sports’ Florian Plettenberg (@Plettigoal) state that Liverpool is monitoring Real Madrid winger Rodrygo, who had also been linked to Bayern.

Liverpool is also in on Alexander Isak from Newcastle, who reportedly has a price tag of over €150 million.

Big moves for a club that has already signed Florian Wirtz from the Bundesliga this summer, beating Bayern to the punch on that one.

Opinion

All of this is sickening, in the sense that Bayern has done almost nothing outside of the Diaz transfer and any kind of move that they did do was short-sighted in nature. When one of your bench options is Serge Gnabry, it’s not a great look.
