“Warner, in search of a new “run and hit” partner — a description regularly used by Shanahan and Lynch to describe prototypical 49ers linebackers — gave Winters a glowing endorsement that doubled as a call to action.

“That’s going to be the biggest thing for him this training camp, honestly, is just be out there every single day with intent to be better and to really own it,” Warner said. “If you want it to be yours, it’s there for the taking.

“If you want to be that guy, man, go out there and show your teammates, show the coaches, show everybody that you’re ready.”

49ers working out UFL edge rusher Jaylon Allen

According to the NFL transaction wire, the 49ers also worked out offensive tackles Cameron Fleming, Connor Galvin, and Lucas Niang. Additionally, the team worked out linebacker Trevis Gipson and hosted offensive tackle Prince Tega Wanogho.

The 6’2, 245 lb. defensive end signed with the Memphis Showboats in December 2024. Before that, Allen signed with the Denver Broncos as a UDFA in 2024 and was later waived with an injury settlement.

While at the University of Memphis, Allen earned Second Team All-AAC honors in 2023, after recording 40 tackles, seven TFLs (tackles for loss), two sacks, two pass breakups, one fumble recovery, and one forced fumble. He started all 13 games during his senior season with the Tigers.

Allen had a solid 2025 season in the UFL. He played in 10 games, while recording 23 tackles, 1.5 sacks, and one forced fumble. He also had 21 QB pressures.”
