Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo has admitted there’s been plenty of talk about tightening up the backline this season under Hansi Flick.
The German coach’s infamous high line came under scrutiny last season and Araujo says conversations have been had about how to prove.
“Happy with the clean sheet. It’s something we always talk about with my teammates. We talked with Cuba and Joan about conceding fewer goals this year,” he said after the win over Real Mallorca.
“With the style we play, we’re always
ADvery exposed, but by correcting that we can get fewer goals. Personally, I’m really happy. I feel good. I had a good preseason physically and I feel very good. It was something I needed to gain confidence.”
Araujo was in the starting XI against Mallorca alongside Pau Cubarsi and helped the team to a first clean sheet of the season against the nine men.
He will be hoping to continue to be a starter under Flick, following Inigo Martinez’s departure, but will face competition from Andreas Christensen.
