Axel Tuanzebe sues United, alleging “negligent medical advice”

Former Manchester United defender Axel Tuanzebe filed a legal claim against his old club in the High Court last week, alleging negligent medical advice related to his recovery from an injury in 2022. The claim is a high-value claim worth more than £1m, per BBC Sport reporters Nick Mashiter and Simon Stone.

According to multiple reports, the claim was filed on July 9.

Liverpool in 2019, and he made a total of 37 appearances for the club between 2016 and 2021. His final appearances for Manchester United came in the 2021 UEFA Europa League final in a loss on penalties to Villarreal.

Tuanzebe was on loan at Aston Villa for the 2021-22 campaign, playing nine matches, and missed much of the next two years following his injury, playing just a handful of matches on loan at Stoke City before signing with Ipswich Town in 2023, making 19 league appearances in their promotion campaign and starting 22 Premier League matches in the 2024-25 season.

Tuanzebe recently moved to newly-promoted Burnley on a free transfer.

Neither the club nor Tuanzebe’s representatives have commented publicly on the matter.
