The Wisconsin Badgers had one of their best seasons in recent memory in 2024-25, breaking out in a big way offensively, while maintaining a stronghold on the defensive side of the ball.
Looking to improve their tempo and efficiency, Wisconsin’s new-look offense had them score the most points per game since 1970-71, en route to earning a No. 3 seed in the NCAA Tournament.
Now, of course, their season was cut short by a heartbreaking 91-89 loss to the BYU Cougars in the Round of 32. But, there was serious
growth from head coach Greg Gard’s group.
Looking ahead to the upcoming season, Wisconsin has faced quite a bit of turnover, losing six seniors and 10 total players, prompting them to go out and land five transfers and four freshmen to improve the roster.
Will Wisconsin still maintain its level of play from a season ago? CBS Sports’s Isaac Trotter thinks so, predicting the Badgers to have a top-10 offense in the country.
“The Badgers have three guards who can play on or off the ball in John Blackwell, Andrew Rohde and Nick Boyd, surrounding two sweet-shooting forwards (Austin Rapp and Nolan Winter),” Trotter wrote. “That’s a dangerous combination offensively. Losing John Tonje stings, but the Blackwell is the total package and has All-America upside as the go-to alpha.”
Trotter put Wisconsin with Duke, Purdue, Texas Tech, BYU, Illinois, Kentucky, Florida, Louisville, and UConn in contention for the top offense in the country next season.
Of course, their defense will still have to be on par if the Badgers have high hopes for the upcoming year, but it’s promising that their offense already projects to be one of the best in the country.
