Roman Reigns delivered one of the best promos of his career Monday on Raw, setting up a classic story with future rival Bron Breakker.
After months of silence following Paul Heyman’s betrayal at WrestleMania 41, Reigns spoke firmly and earnestly about Heyman’s actions.
First, Reigns set the record straight by telling the world Heyman wasn’t responsible for creating his persona as the Tribal Chief. Instead, Reigns acknowledged the fans for recognizing him as such. He then gave credit where many felt
it was long overdue for his nearly four-year reign as WWE’s undisputed champion.
“He didn’t have any part in me keeping that title,” Reigns said of Heyman’s contributions, or lack thereof. “No. The Usos did. Solo did. Sami even helped out.”
Reigns’ acknowledgment of his cousins Jimmy and Jey Uso, Solo Sikoa, and honorary Bloodline member Sami Zayn drew cheers from the crowd. The reaction reflected their appreciation for his honesty, as he subtly implied that, at times, he needed help from others to get by.
Later in the segment, Bron Breakker exploited that vulnerability, suggesting that Reigns’ best days were behind him.
“You’re yesterday’s news. You’re the old dog,” Breakker declared. “Hell, you were relevant five years ago. That was your prime.”
Breakker, 27, continued to boast, adding that he was the future of the company and that Reigns, 40, no longer had value.
Throughout Reigns’ monologue, Breakker appeared impatient, unable to contain himself. Meanwhile, Reigns remained composed and offered Breakker advice learned from personal experience.

“He’s about to do the same thing to you as he did to me,” Reigns warned. “Because in a few years, when you’re the man around here, he’s going to take all the credit.”
Breakker showed his naivety and his unfamiliarity with Heyman, who, besides Reigns, has also betrayed Brock Lesnar and Rob Van Dam, among many others.
“I know that Paul won’t stab me in the back,” Breakker said. “You wanna know why? I hold value in this place.”
The war of words ended when Reigns said he didn’t hear anything Breakker told him. He offered Breakker his mic by tossing it to him. Breakker instinctively went to catch it, leaving himself open for Reigns to drop him with a Superman punch.
From there, a melee ensued. Jey Uso saved Reigns, and the two stood tall as Raw ended.
WWE has not confirmed whether Reigns and Breakker will meet one-on-one at SummerSlam, or if Reigns and Uso will face Breakker and fellow Heyman associate Bronson Reed at the event.
Whenever they meet in singles action, the outcome may not favor Breakker. However, a loss won’t damage him, as he will likely be protected in defeat. He’ll still look like a rising star, just one with lessons to learn.
For Reigns, this will be a chance for him to prove that he can still compete at the highest level and win on his own. As he showed Monday night, he still has a few tricks left up his sleeve, perhaps just enough to get by Breakker.
