It would not be a summer following Bayern Munich without some weirdness leaking out.
As you know by now, Bayern Munich has exited talks with VfB Stuttgart over attacker Nick Woltemade because Die Schwaben has not been receptive to, well, anything.
Sport Bild has been all over the story from the beginning and recently reported that Bayern Munich CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen was leading the talks. Two proposals from Bayern Munich to VfB Stuttgart have been rejected so far as Stuttgart is reportedly not
willing to talk to Bayern Munich until the Rekordmeister hits at least €65 million with one of their offers.
In an odd twist to the story, Sport Bild noted that an email leaked — but not for the reason you might think.
In the negotiations for FC Bayern’s desired players, every detail is carefully considered. For example, VfB Stuttgart reportedly registered the sender of the email that arrived at the cup winners last Thursday evening. The first offer for Nick Woltemade (23) is said to have been sent from the office of Bayern chairman Jan-Christian Dreesen (57). Sporting director Max Eberl (51) is said to have been “cc”-ed, meaning he was a secondary recipient alongside the actual recipients: VfB CEO Alexander Wehrle (50) and sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth (46).
Much ado about nothing? Probably. Weird? Kind of. Anything to get concerned about? No.
Come on, how many emails does a CEO really send by him or herself? If Dreesen typed and sent this one, it was probably an innocuous decision of which field to place Eberl’s name in.
Eberl has been putting in a yeoman’s work this summer, but has yet to strike big on an acquisition or a sale. At some point, that will end — whether he is cc’d on an email or not.
With a move for Hugo Ekitiké getting close, the reality is that Bayern Munich is likely going to get Luis Diaz…whether fans like it or not. Bayern Munich has reportedly also exited talks with VfB Stuttgart to focus on a deal for Diaz. It might also just be time for Bayern Munich to rip off the band-aid and sell Kim Min-jae, João Palhinha, and Sacha Boey. Finally, we have a note Bayer Leverkusen’s CEO and his recent slam on Bayern.
