Marcus Rashford is set to become Barcelona’s third signing of the summer transfer window and will join the club on loan from Manchester United.
The 27-year-old will arrive with plenty to prove, after a tricky time in the Premier League recently, and Hansi Flick is already planning on where he fits into his squad.
According to Diario Sport, Flick is not planning on using Rashford as a back-up to Robert Lewandowski and only wants him on the flank.
Flick’s plans for the new campaign include Ferran Torres
as Lewandowski’s back-up, with Dani Olmo also an option as a false nine.
Rashford, therefore, is being primed for a role off the left flank where he can cut inside and go for goal.
He said back in 2023 that it was his preferred position, telling the club’s official website: “I prefer the left, I feel like on the left it’s easier to stay in the game
Yet in a recent chat with Spanish YouTube channel xBuyer he had changed his tune: “For me, playing as a No 9 is becoming more comfortable, more natural.”
