Welcome back, folks!
The Detroit Tigers — save for those involved with this week’s festivities — got a much-needed breather during the All-Star break and now open up the second half of the season on the road against the Texas Rangers.
The Motor City Kitties still hold the best record in all of Major League Baseball with a one-game lead over the Los Angeles Dodgers. In the American League Central Division, AJ Hinch and Co. maintain an MLB-best 11.5-game lead over the second-place Minnesota Twins while
the team’s run differential is still the third-best in the big leagues at plus-87.
Meanwhile, the Rangers hold onto third place in the AL West, lagging behind the first-place Houston Astros by 8.5 games while amassing a run differential of plus-47. Much like Detroit heading into the All-Star break, Texas also split its last 10 games evenly at 5-5.
On Friday night, the Olde English D returns to action with Reese Olson on the mound, while the Lone Star boys send Patrick Corbin to the hill to defend their home turf. Here is a look at how things match up.
