Real Madrid Castilla defender Jacobo Ramon is set to join Nico Paz at Italian outfit Como, as both clubs made the move official on Thursday.

Soon after, Ramon released a heartfelt statement thanking the club and its fans for the support he has received during his time in Madrid.

Here is the official statement:

“Never forget that call from 2013. I was 8 years old and I didn’t fathom it. It was my club Las Rozas CF, who informed my parents of the news that all children dream of: ‘Real Madrid want you’.

I came to Real Madrid at 8 years old to play in the Benjamin ‘B’, the smallest category of the club and where you begin to learn what Madridismo means.

From Benjamín to Alevín, then Infantil, Cadete, Juvenil and Real Madrid Castilla, the definitive step that ‘decides’ our future.

It’s been twelve seasons at Real Madrid. And of course, you live unforgettable, exciting and also complicated moments. You start as a kid, you become a teenager and they prepare you to be a professional. That is the biggest thanks to so many coaches, coaching staff, many teammates who are friends today and, above all, to Real Madrid that transcends football because it forms you as a person.

Staying with a moment seems impossible, but debuting at the Bernabéu on a Champions League night leaves you speechless. And scoring a goal in front of all your fans is priceless.

Today I say goodbye to Real Madrid with the pride of having learned from the best. And I begin a new stage of my life in Como 1907 with the same values that I began to learn since September 2013.

Thank you forever and Hala Madrid!!!!”

Jacobo will now ply his trade at Serie A for the next few seasons, but Real Madrid have also included buy-back clauses and will retain a 50% sell-on clause, just like they did with Paz.

It will be fun to watch Jacobo’s development as he searches for regular, top-level football.
