Earlier this month at All In Texas, ROH Women’s World Champion Athena won a contract that allows her to challenge for the AEW women’s world championship anytime she wants. This is essentially AEW’s equivalent to WWE’s Money in the Bank contract gimmick.
Things got even better for Athena when she pinned AEW women’s world champion “Timeless” Toni Storm in a tag team match on this week’s Dynamite. However, she did not cash in activate her contract afterwards.
On tonight’s (July 31) live episode of Collision,
Athena explained that when she pinned Toni, she realized she doesn’t respect her. It will be easy to beat Storm for the AEW world title, so Athena wants to sign her contract to win the belt in a special location. That place is London’s O2 Arena on Aug. 24 at AEW’s Forbidden Door pay-per-view.

Athena is taking a big risk by giving Toni plenty of time to prepare for the title fight, so we’ll see if it backfires in less than one month in London.
What do you think of Athena’s decision to challenge Toni Storm at Forbidden Door? Let me know in the comments below, Cagesiders.
