Real Madrid have placed a €20 million price tag on midfielder Dani Ceballos, a figure that Real Betis are currently unwilling to meet, according to a report from AS. The 27-year-old, who developed as a player at Betis before moving to Madrid in 2017, seems to have a very limited role under new coach Xabi Alonso and would be keen on a return to his lifelong club, per that same report.
Despite interest from Betis, negotiations have stalled over Madrid’s valuation, which the Sevilla-based club reportedly
considers excessive given Ceballos’s role in the squad and recent injury record. Betis would only spend around €10 million for this transfer and even then, it looks like Real Madrid would need to pay at least a portion of Ceballos’ current deal, as Betis can’t match the midfielder’s salary with Real Madrid.
Ceballos has two years left on his contract at the Bernabéu, and it looks like Real Madrid would need to sign a replacement if he ends up leaving the club, given that they would lose valuable depth with his departure.
