Is Joe Rogan leaving UFC? Dana White explains ‘time problem’ ahead of Paramount-CBS deal

WHAT'S THE STORY?

Joe Rogan loves doing UFC commentary … so long as it doesn’t numb his mind.

Hopefully the executives at Paramount, who recently inked a longterm deal with UFC worth $7.7 billion, don’t make the same mistake as FOX and try to turn Rogan into a “sports guy” for the upcoming fight cards, streaming primarily on Paramount+ with select events airing on the CBS television network.

To that end, fans shouldn’t expect any changes to the broadcast team, though a “time problem” on Rogan’s behalf could reduce his

participation over the next several years.

After all, those apologies won’t write themselves.

“Everything stays the same as far as the team goes,” UFC CEO, Dana White, told Pardon My Take. “Joe Rogan isn’t here at the UFC because of the money. He did the first 12 events for free. Joe Rogan has a time problem. That’s the only thing Joe Rogan has, is a time problem. If Joe didn’t have a time problem, he’d even be doing the Fight Nights. Sh*t, he’d even be doing the ‘Contender Series.’ Joe Rogan was doing great before the deal, he’s gonna do just fine after the deal.”

I reckon a lot of us would be “just fine” with $100 million.

Rogan, 58, has been with the promotion since day one and is widely-considered “the best ever” when it comes to color commentary (despite this rusty instrument). But in recent years, Rogan has reduced his schedule to domestic pay-per-view (PPV) events and now the promotion is scrapping the PPV model (kinda).

Expect to see Rogan in the CBS lineup and perhaps whatever “Fight Night” cards his “time problem” permits.
