Travis Kelce on His Upcoming Season, Post-NFL Ambitions, and Life with Taylor Swift | GQ

“Win a Super Bowl is the only goal,” Kelce says. “It’s the only goal. It’s every goal.” It’s been nearly four months since that defeat, and Kelce is still hard on himself about it. “I think it might have slipped a little bit because I did have a little bit more focus in trying to set myself up. And opportunities came up where I was excited to venture into a new world of acting and being an entertainer,” he says. “I don’t

say this as ‘I shouldn’t have done it.’ I’m just saying that my work ethic is such that I have so much pride in how I do things that I never want the product to tail off, and I feel like these past two years haven’t been to my standard.” He adds, “I just have such a motivation to show up this year for my guys.”

The Andy Reid superpower that has allowed him to do more with less | The Kansas City Star

“I try to get into the office when there’s nobody there just so you can get some quiet work done,” Reid says on “The Kingdom.” “After midnight and early in the morning, I have good thoughts. I think there’s just not a lot of other clutter in there.”

Every AFC team’s biggest challenge in 2025 | CBS Sports

Playmaker injuries/suspensions: This was supposed to be the year that the Chiefs finally got back to being explosive. Hell, last year was supposed to be that year. But injuries to Hollywood Brown and then Rashee Rice and then Isiah Pacheco robbed the Chiefs of any opportunity to rediscover that element of their offense. Well, fast forward to this year and Hollywood is already banged up in camp, Rice is facing a suspension stemming from his arrest last offseason, explosive rookie running back Brashard Smith has been out of practice and, well, who the heck knows if we’ll ever even see the Chiefs at full strength and back to cooking with the type of gas we saw them hit during Patrick Mahomes ‘ first few years in the league.

What Stands Out to Gardner Minshew About Chiefs Offense? | Sports Illustrated

“I love the way they teach it here. Between Coach Nagy, Coach Girardi in our room, Coach Reid, obviously, they communicate very well on potential looks you can get, how the play may adjust on the fly, and really give the guys an opportunity to go play ball and be successful. So, that’s been a lot of fun,” Minshew said.

Jason Kelce Argues Why His Brother Travis Has An Edge Over Rob Gronkowski and Tony Gonzalez | The Sports Rush

“There will be arguments about him versus Gronk, versus Tony Gonzalez. But I don’t think anybody has ever been as unique of a player in that spot.”

NOHL WILLIAMS | A-

Wiliams will prove to be a third-round bargain for the Chiefs. He played at the line of scrimmage most of the game, showing quick feet and balance to stay with his man down the sideline. Williams gave up a first-down reception after biting on an outside step but flipped his hips back inside to make the tackle. His most important play was breaking up a red-zone fade, wrestling the ball from the receiver’s hands once the pass arrived. Williams looked aware in zone coverage, though he wasn’t tested. He played the run well, keeping outside containment, ripping off receiver blocks and wrapping up ball-carriers (including a tackle for loss).

Najee Harris back running, doing drills at Chargers’ practice | ESPN

Los Angeles Chargers running back Najee Harris ran and participated in drills with a football for the first time this training camp, doing so off to the side with an athletic trainer during Tuesday’s practice.

Harris ‘ agent, Doug Hendrickson, said Harris suffered a “superficial eye injury” after a July 4 fireworks mishap, which landed Harris on the non-football injury/illness list ahead of training camp. Hendrickson said he expected Harris to be ready for the season.

Jon Gruden: “I look forward to having the truth come out” | Pro Football Talk

“The league’s actions disrupted the whole season,” Gruden added. “We were leading the division at the time, and they completely blindsided me and the team.”

He’s exactly right. Even if Gruden objectively deserved to be pushed out based on emails sent while, coincidentally, he was working for ESPN, someone from a small group of people who had access to the emails chose to leak them during the 2021 season. The situation could have been handled in June, when the emails were first flagged. The situation could have been handled after the season. Instead, someone weaponized the emails and forced the Raiders to change coaches on the fly.

James Cook returns to Bills practice amid contract dispute | ESPN

Bills coach Sean McDermott said he expected Cook to return to practice earlier Tuesday, adding that “things have changed.”

“We’ve had conversations with James,” McDermott said. “Good conversations, as I’ve mentioned before, and the information that we’re getting is that he is moving in the direction of practicing today.

Steelers QB Aaron Rodgers doesn’t like new helmet, says ‘it looks like a darn spaceship out there’ | NFL.com

Yeah, I still don’t like it,” Rodgers said, via team transcript. “No, I’m trying to change. We’re in the process still. It looks like a darn spaceship out there. “We have to change it. The face mask doesn’t fit the helmet because that’s an old face mask obviously just like I’m old, but we’re trying to find the right helmet right now.”

The combination of an old (and incredibly simple) facemask with a new helmet model has indeed made for a cartoonish appearance for Rodgers resembling the Great Gazoo character from The Flintstones. It’s the best he could do to assemble the most familiar setup possible, but even Rodgers has admitted he’ll have to accept at least some change.

Packers’ Jordan Love has thumb procedure, expected to play Week 1 | ESPN

Jordan Love had surgery Tuesday to repair a ligament injury to his left thumb, but the Green Bay Packers expect the star quarterback to be ready for their season opener.

Love, who had his left thumb taped during Monday’s practice, tried to play through the injury before ultimately deciding to have the procedure.

There’s “no update” on Matthew Stafford | ProFootball Talk

They’re still frayed today. Comments from assistant head coach/passing game coordinator Aubrey Pleasant will do nothing to un-fray them.

“No, no update on Matthew,” Pleasant said, “but what I will tell you is it’s very tough for not only him and for the organization. I would say is that he’s trying his best.”

That’s what makes it even more concerning. We’re three weeks and five days from Week 1, and Stafford still can’t practice. Despite his best efforts.

Top 10 NFL rookies from preseason Week 1 | Pro Football Focus

S Kitan Crawford, Arizona Cardinals (92.5)

Crawford was targeted only once across 21 coverage snaps against the Chiefs. The result of the play was a leaping interception in the endzone on third-and-16 while he was manning the middle of the field in zone coverage. Crawford was one of two rookie safeties to record an interception this weekend.

Chiefs make 4 roster moves after Saturday’s serious injuries

Then on Tuesday morning, Kansas City signed former Washington Commanders running back Michael Wiley, bringing the roster back to full strength. The 5-foot-10, 209-pound Arizona product was an undrafted free agent for the Commanders following the 2024 NFL Draft, but spent last season on their practice squad. Washington waived him (with a non-football injury designation) on July 22, just after signing pass rusher Von Miller. It appears that the injury wasn’t serious, as he was on the Chiefs’ practice field wearing No. 39 on Tuesday morning.
