This afternoon’s game will definitely start in a delay. How long will it be? No one knows.

Adrian Houser was scheduled to start today’s final game before the trade deadline, but he was scratched this morning in favor of Tyler Alexander, leading off in an emergency bullpen game. As of an hour before game time, the White Sox hadn’t announced where Houser is headed,

but he was very much a trade candidate, so he’s likely traveling somewhere.

One move that was announced this morning was Austin Slater’s departure to the Yankees to help fill in while Aaron Judge is on the IL and DHing. Coming to Chicago’s system is minor league pitcher Gage Ziehl, a 22-year-old righty who has moved up to the Double-A level.

Expect more to come.

As for the game, the Phillies are starting veteran righty Taijuan Walker, who has a solid 3.84 ERA, but has served up five gopher balls in his last two starts. Here’s the lineup that will face Walker.

The Phillies won’t be shipping out any major leaguers, so their lineup is more set.

First pitch is scheduled for 1:10 p.m. Central, or, on the more important clock, 27 hours and 50 minutes before the trade deadline. With a 100% chance of thunderstorms through the afternoon, the game could end up going all the way to the deadline — usual broadcast suspects.
