  • The Huskies have taken it slow with injury rehab for key players this fall. As we start to transition from scheme implementation to specific game preparation, the focus shifts from getting as healthy as possible to getting ready to play. Denzel Boston is arguably the most important player who hasn’t seen regular fall camp reps so far as he recovers from off-season sports hernia surgery. Andy Yamashita updates Boston’s status and says he is tracking to be a full participant by the end of this week. Boston also said that he would be ready to play on Saturday if the Dawgs had a game on the schedule. The receiver room has a lot of exciting talent, but the lack of proven production makes Boston especially crucial.

  • Also at the Seattle Times, Yamashita takes an extended look at the progress of Hayden Moore. The Michigan transfer came to UW as an inside linebacker. Due to updates to the scheme with the hire of Ryan Walters and the short-handedness of the edge room, Moore has officially changed positions to become a pass rush specialist.

  • Christian Caple is back from a salmon-harvesting expedition and has practice notes of his own. In addition to updates on Boston’s status, he points out that freshman Chris Lawson has used Boston’s absence to establish himself as a real threat for playing time this year. We have heard rave reviews about Dezmen Roebuck all fall, but he profiles as more of an option in the slot. If Lawson can establish himself as a reliable option on the outside, it will go a long way toward balancing the receiver room.

  • Receivers were a popular topic yesterday. Dawgman also had comments from receiving coach Kevin Cummings, who said that the competition in fall camp is helping define the roles for players with different physical profiles and technical strengths.
