Less than 24 hours after the Detroit Lions and Los Angeles Charges kicked off the 2025 NFL preseason with something resembling football in the Hall of Fame game, one of the top producing young edge rushers in league history has taken over the headlines.
Friday afternoon Dallas Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons took to social media to post a request for a trade.

In the four seasons since he was selected with the twelfth overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft,
Parsons has recorded 256 tackles and 52.5 sacks, with double digit sacks in each and every season of his career. However, the two time First-Team All-Pro, four time Pro Bowl player has now requested a trade after contract negotiations have not proceeded as he wished.
Parsons is due a hair over $24M during the 2025 season on the fifth-year option, and he has a little bit more leeway in his approach to requesting a new contract or a trade due to the fact that he is still on his rookie contract, but this certainly has the potential to be a fascinating story in the coming weeks and months.
