After last night’s tough loss, the Colorado Rockies will look to get back to their winning ways and even their series against the St. Louis Cardinals on Tuesday night.

Bradley Blalock (0-2, 9.97 ERA) will get the ball for the Rockies. Making his seventh appearance, and fifth start, of the 2025 campaign, Blalock has seen the ups and downs of MLB action this year, at one point allowing 12 earned runs in a previous outing. His most recent outing, though, was his finest work yet as he was an out away

from tossing six innings of one-run ball against the Cincinnati Reds.

Blalock will look to achieve similar results against St. Louis as he makes his bid for his first win of the season.

To do so, he’ll likely have to outduel Erick Fedde (3-9, 4.83 ERA), the longtime National-now-Cardinal standing opposite Blalock. Fedde has had an uneven season, and Baseball Savant’s advanced show him as the recipient of some very fortuitous luck (when comparing opponent BA vs xBA).

This will mark Fedde’s seventh start against the Rockies and fifth at Coors Field, where he’s 2-1 with a 3.32 ERA. Colorado should find plenty of opportunities to even up that record, especially if they take advantage of his changeup and cutter - these pitches have been hit hardest by opposing lineups this year.

As is the case every time the Cardinals come to Denver, all eyes will be on Nolan Arenado, who broke out with a two-hit, two-run performance last night after entering the game 1 for his last 11 prior. Containing him will be a key part of Colorado’s success on Tuesday.

The Rockies will line up tonight in a more “typical” fashion, with Michael Toglia back in at first base and Tyler Freeman as the designated hitter. Both were off yesterday. Mickey Moniak, meanwhile, is looking to continue his scorching hot July, which has seen him hit .432. He enters Tuesday with a six-game hitting streak.
