Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles links ...
Roob’s Eagles Observations: A free agent who just might be better than expected - NBCSP 9. I expect that by the middle of the season, we’ll be saying this is the best group of linebackers the Eagles have ever had. Now, Jihaad Campbell still has to do it in games, and we’re only a week and a half into training camp. And Nakobe Dean has to come back healthy at some point. But we know what Zack Baun can do, Jeremiah Trotter Jr. has made huge strides and has really
taken advantage of all the 1st-team reps he’s gotten, Campbell has so much potential and Dean had a borderline Pro Bowl season before his untimely injury in the Packers playoff game. The Eagles have never had a fourth linebacker as talented as Trotter. I don’t have to remind anybody of the recent history of Eagles linebackers. It’s ugly. But Howie Roseman has put together a loaded group here and even a guy like rookie 5th-round pick Smael Mondon has looked good at camp. They’ve had some terrific linebackers occasionally along the way. Maxie Baughan and Chuck Bednarik from 1960 through 1962, Bill Bergey, John Bunting and Frank LeMaster from 1974 through 1980, Seth and B&E from 1987 through 1983 and Jordan Hicks, Kamu Grugier-Hill and Nigel Bradham from 2016 through 2018. But four deep? We’ll see how it goes, but this has a chance to be a really special group.
Eagles Film Review: What does the future hold for Johnny Wilson? - BGN
If the Eagles focus on developing him as big slot, where he can use his frame against smaller nickel corners and safeties, as both a pass catcher and a blocker then he might carve out a role. But if they keep forcing him to win outside against quicker corners, I’m not sure he’ll ever justify his roster spot.

Eagles linebacker Jihaad Campbell embraces his roots at his back-to-school event: ‘The Jersey pride is real’ - Inquirer
Jihaad Campbell has been here before. It‘s 2 p.m. on Saturday, a day off from Eagles training camp, and Campbell is standing near the foot of a familiar hill at Gloucester Township Community Park in Sicklerville. A backdrop separates Campbell from the hill. He’s posing for photos in front of it with families attending his back-to-school event, distributing over 500 backpacks and other school supplies to the community. Just weeks prior, Campbell was in that same spot, running up and down that hill preparing for his first NFL season

Pete Carroll: The old Devin White is back - PFT
Veteran linebacker Devin White is off to a good start at Raiders camp. White was a second-team All-Pro and a Pro Bowler early in his career with the Buccaneers, but his play tailed off in 2023 after he requested a trade in response to the lack of movement toward a contract extension. He signed a one-year deal with the Eagles in March 2024 and was released in October without playing a snap for the team. White played seven games for the Texans following that release, but did not make much of an impact before moving on to Las Vegas.

Banged-Up Bucs add Jacob Harris to Receiving Corps - Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers patched up an injury-riddled group of wide receivers in training camp on Thursday, signing undrafted rookie Jaden Smith. On Saturday, they made another addition to that unit, signing former UCF standout Jacob Harris, who most recently was on the Philadelphia Eagles’ injured reserve list for part of 2024. To make room for Harris on the 91-man camp roster, the Buccaneers officially placed rookie outside linebacker David Walker on injured reserve. Walker, a fourth-round pick out of Central Arkansas, suffered a season-ending knee injury during the first week of training camp.
Commanders HC Dan Quinn on Terry McLaurin’s trade request: ‘It is an emotional time’ - NFL.com
“Sometimes, those are the emotions and that’s the human side of it,” he said. “Knowing there can be emotions, that’s the ones he attached to at that moment. For me as the coach, give the support, give the insights, do you want advice? That’s the way that you do it. But it is an emotional time. It’s so damn important and each player, it won’t be quite the same in how that’s happening. I just try to not judge it as best I can, and it’s not always that easy to do knowing it’s an emotional time. Our times together are intense for different reasons. Sometimes it’s the competitive intensity, other times it’s something like this where you’re just, ahh, and you’re feeling some kind of way. So I just try to make sure, man, support the players as best I can knowing they’re accessing emotions that are hard.”

Jerry Jones declares life ‘does go on’ in latest Micah Parsons twist - SB Nation
On Friday, Dallas Cowboys star Micah Parsons rocked the NFL world by requesting a trade. Saturday gave Dallas owner Jerry Jones a chance to respond, and he took advantage of the moment. Speaking with the media at Cowboys’ training camp, Jones made it clear that while he does not want Dallas fans to “lose sleep” over the contract situation, and that he does not want to trade Parsons, there is also the simple fact that “life does go on.”
Micah Parsons’ trade request and his future with the Cowboys - ESPN
How is this different from Myles Garrett’s trade request with the Cleveland Browns? The tone of Garrett’s request is much different than the one Parsons made. Garrett took to social media in February and said, “While I loved calling this city my home, my desire to win and compete on the biggest stages won’t allow me to be complacent. The goal has never been to go from Cleveland to Canton, it has always been to compete for and win a Super Bowl.” Five weeks later, Garrett signed a four-year, $160 million extension to remain with the Browns. Parsons wrote about “repeated shots at myself” and detailed the back-and-forth he had with Jerry Jones in March, saying that the original intent was to discuss leadership but that Jones turned the subject to his contract. Can the sides repair a relationship that once had Parsons wanting to never leave Dallas and saying to ESPN in December that he didn’t need to be the highest paid defensive player in the game?
Training camp injuries have turned the Cowboys’ OL into the walking wounded - Blogging The Boys
Smith is simply just the most recent of the Cowboys OL who have sustained some degree of injury since training camp got underway. He joins Terence Steele (ankle), Rob Jones (neck), and Tyler Guyton (knee) in missing some practice time thus far in training camp due to injuries and all will need to be closely monitored. That doesn’t even include some down roster linemen who missed time. While thankfully none of these injuries have been of the season-ending type, it does raise somewhat of a concern about the cohesiveness of this group and the further development of Guyton. The quicker everyone can get healthy, the better.
‘Kudos & Wet Willies’: Who’s up, who’s down after another week of New York Giants training camp - Big Blue View
Wet Willies to ... Deonte Banks — Entering his third season, it seems that the former first-round pick still has not learned how to turn his head and find the football while he is in coverage. Early in the week, he committed defensive pass interference in the end zone on a long, floating pass from Russell Wilson he should have been able to find and at least knock down. On Saturday, Banks committed a holding penalty and got burned deep by Nabers in one-on-one drills. Not that it is ‘WW’ worthy, but Banks’ comfort in front of a microphone has not improved, either. His Tuesday session with the media was painful, filled with short, one-sentence answers.
