Once upon a time, I was something of a commonality on Off Tackle Empire. Whether it was writing about office jargon, the dominance of the Michigan Wolverines Trampoline team, or any myriad of articles where I waxed poetic about days of past (Nebraska glory) (no, I’m not linking to anything I’ve written about the Nebraska Cornhuskers football team, I don’t need to rehash the past anymore than I will in the near future), I was here!
Then I had two kids, moved to Texas, and got progressively - or at
least vaguely more - important jobs. Gone were the days where I could come on OTE and talk shit about Nebraska football and pretend like I didn’t want to yell at everyone who thinks Nebraska isn’t the best state in the footprint (fight me) (Okay, don’t fight me, and yeah yeah, it’s likely not even true but I’m getting to the point and you’re still reading).
Anyhow, I turned 40 somewhat recently (or rather, not recently enough as it means I’m even further past that mark now), and while I thought about mailing (SEE WHAT I DID THERE) this article in and seeing if ChatGPT could write it for me, I still managed to churn out 200+ words to this point. I still got it! I still have it? I havez its?
We’re way off the point now. Anyways, did you know that we still have three amazing writers here at Off-Tackle Empire who love Nebraska football? Or uh, at least vaguely appreciate Nebraska football and definitely love Volleyball? Because we do.
The venerable trio of BRT, Dead Read, and myself are still here, and we are excited to answer your compelling mailbag questions this week. While the articles about Big Red may be further and fewer between - I think the last thing I wrote was about Nebrasketball so... yeah - but we still have all the snark of our younger selves.
Was this just a very long, winding way of saying “Hey fools, send us questions!” Absolutely! But when have I ever been anything less than verbose.
