Just 24 hours ago, Liverpool FC appeared to be on the verge of closing a deal for Salford’s talented 17-year-old striker Will Wright, having offered £100,000 plus add-ons for the talented prospect. The 6 foot 3 striker scored over 50 goals for Salford’s youth teams in all competitions last season.
But it now looks like Liverpool are giving up and refusing to up their offer, after Arsenal entered the race and offered £250,000 plus major add-ons for the League Two striker.
It’s certainly a pity because
it looked like the Reds had been working on the deal over the past month, but there’s also no need to exceed valuations casually at this level. It’ll be interesting to see if Liverpool do move on to any other teenage striking targets, as it currently one of the leaner position groups in the Academy set up at the moment.
