Bayern Munich sees advantage in being able to offer Liverpool’s Luis Diaz a bigger salary

According to Sport Bild journalist Christian Falk, Bayern Munich views its ability to pay Liverpool FC attacker Luis Diaz as a big advantage in the sweepstakes to land the 28-year-old:

Bayern are keen to lower the wage bill at the club. However, Luis Diaz could easily earn €50m [£43.2m] gross (perhaps a little bit more with add-ons factored in), which could be more than he’s currently earning at Liverpool at the moment. Ultimately, there’s an agreement between FC Bayern and the player, which is why

he knows he can earn more in Munich.

At Bayern Munich, they showed Diaz that they really like him. At Liverpool, he’s one of several players, but in Munich, they gave him the feeling that he could be the next big star. So, that’s surely an argument in Bayern’s favour.

Certainly, the pay matters — it just comes at an odd time as Bayern Munich has been rumored to be seeking different ways to cut its salary budget. This move definitely will not help those efforts if it goes through.
