This news was announced on Wednesday, one day before play begins for this year’s Open at Royal Porthcawl. Seeing a venue like Royal St George’s host the Women’s Open is incredible and continues the trend of the world’s most elaborate courses opening themselves up to women’s major championships.
Obviously Royal St George’s will
play host in 2027, two years from now. Next year’s playing will take place at Royal Lytham & St Annes.
The last instance in which Royal St George’s played host to a major championship in general was in 2021 when it hosted the Open Championship that Collin Morikawa - friend of ours - won it. Seeing it in the rotation on a regular basis is great because of how wonderful it is.
Bring on all of the golf possible here, please.
