Barcelona’s return to the Camp Nou has been thrown into doubt and it appears there are now concerns about when they will be able to play Champions League football at the stadium.
The Catalans had announced they were planning on playing the Gamper Trophy back at Camp Nou but it now seems that game will be switched to the Estadi Johan Cruyff.
According to RAC1, there are now doubts over whether Barcelona can play the group phase of the Champions League at Camp Nou.
The reports states: “UEFA doubts that
Barça can play the first phase of the Champions League at the Camp Nou.” It hasn’t been ruled out yet but another visit to the stadium is planned in a month’s time before a decision is made.
The latest update is another worrying one when it comes to Barca’s return home. The group stage of the 2025-26 Champions League is due to kick off on 16–18 September 2025, with matchday 2 set for 30 September–1 October 2025.
Barcelona have already agreed to play their first few La Liga fixtures away and aren’t due at Camp Nou until September 13-14 against Valencia. RAC1 add that Barca may request to play their first Champions League fixture away from home but it’s unlikely to be accepted.
