Drew McIntyre requested time on tonight’s (Aug. 15) episode of SmackDown to explain why he smashed Cody Rhodes’ skull through the front wood of the commentary table at the end of last week’s show.

For what it’s worth, Joe Tessitore said there is still no medical update on Cody following that brutal attack. Drew was amused by the lack of a medical update and suggested that maybe WWE knows the truth but is protecting their golden boy by saying nothing about it.

Getting back to the matter at hand, McIntyre

said your eyes are lying to you if you think he attacked Rhodes. That’s because Rhodes is the one who attacked him. If you go back and watch the footage over, you’ll see that Cody is the one who instigated the brawl and then cleared off the table with bad intentions in mind. Drew was merely defending himself. Cody provoked him, so Drew became the nightmare and responded with extreme violence.

Did Drew manage to convince you that he’s not actually the bad guy in this story? Let me know in the comments below, Cagesiders.
