According to a report from Bild’s Julian Agardi (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), VfB Stuttgart is full aligned throughout the club on the hardline stance it has taken with Bayern Munich regarding a move for Nick Woltemade:
Stuttgart CEO Alexander Wehrle and sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth have the full support of the supervisory board to stay firm in the negotiations for Nick Woltemade. Club president Dietmar Allgaier and the club’s two shareholders, Porsche and Mercedes, are firmly behind the rejection
ADof Bayern’s first two bids. Should Bayern fail to submit an ‘exceptional offer’, Stuttgart’s supervisory board is clearly in favor of Woltemade staying.
Stuttgart are not relying on transfer revenues this summer. Porsche’s entry as a shareholder is expected to bring the club up to €100 million. Added to that the Champions League revenue from last season, the club is financially more stable than it has been in over a decade, therefore they’re not under pressure to sell. Only an offer of at least €65m would make VfB reconsider.
The dynamics within VfB Stuttgart add a very interesting wrinkle to the negotiations. Unlike some situations in the past, the money being offered from Bayern Munich for Woltemade would be nice for VfB Stuttgart, but is not going to be game-changing.
As many thought, this could drag on all summer.
With a move for Hugo Ekitiké getting close, the reality is that Bayern Munich is likely going to get Luis Diaz…whether fans like it or not. Bayern Munich has reportedly also exited talks with VfB Stuttgart to focus on a deal for Diaz. It might also just be time for Bayern Munich to rip off the band-aid and sell Kim Min-jae, João Palhinha, and Sacha Boey. Finally, we have a note Bayer Leverkusen’s CEO and his recent slam on Bayern.
