It’s that time of year, when hope and optimism have risen to fever pitch for fans following an offseason of roster additions through free agency and the draft.
That is no different for the Seattle Seahawks in 2025, in particular for the offensive line, where the team added highly athletic first round pick as the presumed starter at left guard, while also adding a staff with decades of NFL experience coaching offensive line.
Of course, it’s also the season when injuries pop up and douse the hopes and dreams
of fans with a bucket of cold water. That is exactly what has happened in Seattle, with the report earlier Thursday that starting left tackle Charles Cross will miss some time during camp following surgery to address a dislocated finger. Obviously, the good news for Cross and the team is that he is expected to be ready for the start of the regular season, even if missing valuable time in camp when he could be getting reps in the new system under the watchful eye of the new coaching staff.
With that in mind, the obvious question becomes who earns the reps at left tackle while Cross is out. Thanks to an update from Gregg Bell of the Tacoma News Tribune, fans have that answer.

So, it’s veteran Josh Jones getting the nod at left tackle, which likely comes as no surprise to anyone, while three of the other four spots are exactly as one would expect them to be.
- LT: Josh Jones
- LG: Grey Zabel
- C: Olu Oluwatimi

The eyebrow raiser here is, of course, Bradford at right guard. It seems likely that this is a continuation of the rotation at the position as the new coaching staff gets their first looks at the players competing for that spot in full-contact, padded practices. Thus, it won’t be too big of a surprise if Christian Haynes or Jalen Sundell get reps with the first team unit in the coming days, and it’s one of those things that many will certainly be watching in the coming weeks.
Of course, interestingly, the picture Bell attached to the tweet about the starting offensive line includes only two of the mentioned players. In the picture Michael Jerrell is at left tackle, while Christian Haynes and Jalen Sundell are at center and right guard, respectively, and this seems to raise more questions than provide answers.
In any case, this is the Thursday update on the competition on the interior of the offensive line, a competition that many will certainly watch closely over the course of the next month.
