WHAT'S THE STORY?

One of the great joys of a new football season is tracking the emergence of new and exciting players.

Admittedly, sometimes the emergence of good players really only plays out at the national level. Nobody can really follow the whole league with precision, so there are always going to be some guys on every team that local fans know about that the whole league hasn’t caught onto yet. For the Packers, that’s guys like Tucker Kraft and Zach Tom. You and I know they’re great, but they haven’t yet emerged

into the national conversation.

Then there are the guys we think are good, but aren’t quite sure about yet, usually because of a small sample size to this point. Edgerrin Cooper is the prime current example of a player in this category. Right now, we’re hoping he can build on his 2024. By the end of the season, we might be talking about him as the Packers’ best defensive player.

Then there’s the last category: guys we don’t even really know about yet. Maybe these are rookies. Maybe it’s a guy who’s not had a big role yet. Maybe it’s someone who’s been slowed by injuries. It could be just about anything, and the best part is, it’s almost certainly going to be someone we don’t expect.

Soon, we’ll get to have a look at who’s going to emerge this year, either onto the national stage or just as a serious contributor on this year’s Packers team.
