Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen appears to be heading towards the exit door following the arrival of Joan Garcia this summer.

Hansi Flick has reportedly already told Ter Stegen he won’t be first choice next season and will have to fight for a spot if he does stay.

The situation has since been clouded by Ter Stegen’s decision to undergo surgery, with the relationship between club and player appearing to be at an all-time low.

and does not want to enter into any disputes with his stopper, according to Diario Sport.

Mattters are likely to come to a head shortly, with Ter Stegen undergoing surgery tomorrow when a likely return date should be made available.

Barcelona will then return from their pre-season tour of Asia next week, where Ter Stegen and Flick are likely to meet again.

Sport say that Flick has the “utmost respect” for his compatriot and is well aware that he’s not going through a good time right now.

The Barcelona boss also knows the situation is very tense but is hoping an amicable resolution can be found that suits all parties going forwards.
