Every NFL Roster’s Biggest Strength and Weakness Before 2025 Preseason | Bleacher Report
Kansas City Chiefs
Biggest Needs: DL, IOL, Edge
Biggest Strength: Defense
Patrick Mahomes still drives the Chiefs’ Super Bowl aspirations, but they were a defensive team last season. They were fourth in scoring defense and the offense usually did just enough for them to win every week.
It’s hard to pin down exactly what makes the Kansas City defense elite. The pass rush ranked fifth in pressure rate, but it didn’t
ADreally have an elite pass-rusher outside of Chris Jones. The interior star only had five sacks, but he led the league in pass rush win rate.
The secondary has its strengths, but the Chiefs also finished 19th in yards allowed per pass. Still, Steve Spagnuolo schemes up ways to shut down opponents every week.
Biggest Weakness: Offensive Weapons
Few quarterbacks in the league were tasked with carrying a passing attack more than Mahomes last season. His numbers might have been down, but a lot of that was due to the fact that a 35-year-old Travis Kelce was the team’s leading receiver with rookie Xavier Worthy behind him.
They only got six total games out of Marquise Brown and Rashee Rice last season. Knee injuries ended Rice’s season early and cost Brown most of the year. With both returning, they might get some of their explosiveness back.
However, Rice is facing a potential suspension and Kelce is another year older. Rookie Jalen Royals and Worthy’s development will need to help elevate this unit.

3. Kansas City Chiefs
Ignore the fact that 11 of their 15 wins last season were by one score or less, or that the Eagles blew their doors off in the Super Bowl. Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes are the Bill Belichick-Tom Brady of their generation, which means they’re a Super Bowl threat as long as they’re together — no matter who is around them. And you can bet they will be more motivated than ever after the embarrassing way last season ended for them. They’ll need one last ride out of aging tight end Travis Kelce. A healthy Hollywood Brown could give a needed kick to the offense, too.

C: Creed Humphrey (Chiefs)
Without Jason Kelce, this position is lacking a true “go-to” in terms of celebrity appeal. Widely considered the sturdiest center in the NFL, Humphrey at least gets high marks inside the Chiefs’ locker room for his cool and reliable demeanor. Is that “fun”? It sure is when he’s clearing the way for guys like Patrick Mahomes and Isiah Pacheco to hoist trophies.

NFL employee seriously injured in deadly shooting at tower housing league’s HQ | ESPN
Four people, including an off-duty New York City police officer, were killed and another person was critically wounded in the shooting at 345 Park Ave., authorities said.
“One of our employees was seriously injured in this attack. He is currently in the hospital and in stable condition,” Goodell wrote in the memo, which was obtained by ABC News. “NFL staff are at the hospital and we are supporting his family. We believe that all of our employees are otherwise safe and accounted for, and the building has nearly been cleared.”
Goodell said in the memo that there would be “increased security presence” at the league’s offices “in the days and weeks to come.” He said employees based in New York should work remotely on Tuesday or could take the day off.

4. The Chiefs worked on a “backed-up punt” situation during practice.
The Chiefs work on various specific situations during every practice in order to be ready for any and all scenarios that may present themselves over the course of a long football season. One of those situations on Monday was a “backed-up punt” scenario in which the Chiefs’ punter – either Matt Araiza or Eddie Czaplicki – handled the snap on a short field in the shadow of the goal post.
If the Chiefs face a backed-up punt situation at some point during the year, just remember that they practiced it on July 28.
Deion Sanders reveals he had bladder cancer | NBC Sports
He found it as a result of regular vascular scans.
“This was not an easy task,” Sanders said, adding that he’s had 14 total surgeries since 2021.
He said he knew that the surgery was approaching during draft weekend, but that he told his sons that it was an issue with his foot.
Deion seems to be the same old Deion he’s always been. And he urged everyone to get checked out, and to get the right care: “Get. Checked. Out.”
Amen to that. And it’s good to know Deion is doing well.
He also was very transparent about his current urinary struggles and incontinence, addressing that many others deal with the same issues.
“Let’s stop being ashamed of it, and let’s deal with it,” Sanders said. “And let’s deal with it head on.”

Chiefs News: Mike says padded practice tells you who’s about it
Sunday marked the first padded practice at the Kansas City Chiefs’ training camp at Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph. Despite high temperatures, defensive end Mike Danna was ready to see the increased intensity.
“It’s great hearing the pads pop,” said Kansas City’s second-longest tenured defender. “Being able to thud, being able to wrap up, being able to be physical outside of the protective shells? It’s amazing. Guys were competing every single play.
“Nine competing today.”
One of the Chiefs’ goals is to determine whether a pair of rookies in Danna’s position group are “about it.” So far, Danna is high on defensive tackle Omarr Norman-Lott and defensive end Ashton Gillotte.
“He’s explosive,” Danna observed of Norman-Lott. “His get-off is amazing. He has a bright future. If he just keeps working out, working his potential and striving every single day, he’s going to be great. He comes to work. We’ve got a few pit bulls as rookies, so they come in and they’re working. You see them taking no reps off in one-on-ones.

Simmons looks so fluid and smooth in every rep I've seen of him. What a steal for the Chiefs https://t.co/VAhS5F9Fka
