Braves News: Dane Dunning acquired, second half begins, and more

The Atlanta Braves announced Thursday that they had acquired right-hander Dane Dunning from the Texas Rangers. In exchange, the Rangers received righty José Ruiz and cash considerations.

To open up a spot for Dunning on the 40-man roster, the club designated Jesse Chavez for assignment.

made five appearances in Texas this season and logged 10.2 innings. In those outings, he put together a 3.38 ERA and collected 10 strikeouts. He will likely be used to provide more bullpen depth.
